Why I Moved to London (And Didn’t Just Get Bangs Instead)

If you’ve ever found yourself freshly single in your thirties, staring at your Amazon cart full of self-help books and overnight serums, wondering what on earth comes next...same, girl. Same.

I was 35, living in California, and trying to remember who I was before I became “we.” After nine years with the same person, the breakup hit like a freight train. I started asking myself all the big questions, who am I, what do I want and, how do I get there? And of course, where do I want to be while figuring out all the rest.

The answer was London.

Why London? Because it’s chaotic, creative, romantic, historic, and just the right kind of intimidating while still a bit familiar. Because I wanted to live a life where the backdrop felt like my favorite romcom. Because I wanted boots and bookstores and big, moody skies. And because, frankly, I needed to do something just for me.

This blog is the start of something new. I’ll be writing about:

  • How to actually move to the UK (processes, paperwork, panic attacks)

  • What it's like starting to date again as a 30-something

  • Finding both a physical home and a sense of “home”

  • And all the magical, messy moments in between

So welcome. Follow along. Or don’t. But if you’ve ever wanted to disappear and reappear as a better, bolder version of yourself... this one’s for you.
